Ben Franklin once famously said, “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” Most people go their whole lives without doing either, too comfortable in their circumstances to ever challenge them. They live in mediocrity, occasionally finding joy in life, and then die as nobodies. Most would probably disappoint Franklin because they’ve done neither of what he writes about. Unless, of course, that person is the former Yankees shortstop Alex Rodriguez.

Despite his jaded past, Rodriguez is widely regarded as one of the best baseball players to ever grace ballparks. Even though A-Rod aced while playing baseball, his PEDs scandal still makes his illustrious career look small. And it seems like his post-retirement career is in the same way after his $300 million SPAC loss. However, this does not stop the former Yankee from sharing his business knowledge with the world.

Alex Rodriguez is writing a book based on his learnings in life

The world is full of people who will give their blood and tears to write, but very few ever make it. No talent, no money, no time – there are an endless number of excuses that differentiate true writers from wannabes. Alex Rodriguez may be the former, as is witnessed by his recent Instagram story. The retired athlete shared a picture of a blank page titled simply, “Book,” with the caption, “Decided to start writing my book on lessons learned in business and baseball.”

Of course, from the blank page we can surmise A-Rod has not gotten very far in his book writing progress, or whether he’s going first with his current or former job.

They say to be a writer, one has to be a reader first. If one does not have the time to read, they don’t have the time to write. And Rodriguez is quite the reader, as he’s famous for his book recommendations on what helped him grow his business. Now that he’s shared his own plans for book writing with his 4.1 million Instagram followers, they’ll be holding him accountable for updates.

Will A-Rod’s business last long enough for him to write a book?

Coming from a humble background, with a father who left, and a mother who worked two jobs to support the family, Rodriguez knows the worth of money. Specifically, of having enough of it. Among the rare professional athletes who saw the worth in investing what they earned early on in their career, Rodriguez is now a millionaire. Founder and owner of A-Rod Corp, part owner of the NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves, among other investments. These are his current achievements.

But with the recent hard-hitting loss of his SPAC company, plus rising problems with the Timberwolves, will A-Rod’s current lifestyle survive? Slam Corp., the special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) that A-Rod Corp built, has lost investors due to a growing lack of interest in the industry.
