“Stay Humble”: Aaron Boone Channels Kendrick Lamar After Yankees Batters Take Justin Verlander to the Cleaners

After a few series’ where their bats remained quiet, the New York Yankees are once again hitting rockets. Unfortunately for the Houston Astros, they had to endure the all-out attack of the Bronx Bombers. However, what is even more disturbing is just how inconsequential their ace, Justin Verlander proved to be. The Pinstripes completely nullified his threat and did things that few imagined could be done to Verlander’s pitches. But even after all that, the skipper, Aaron Boone, is choosing to stay humble.
This win gives a massive sign of relief to the Yankees’ skipper. It had been long since his team’s hitters clicked in such a manner. So naturally, when Boone entered the postgame conference, relief was visible in his eyes. He was relaxed and praised his players, who he found “capable” of doing anything.
“Some guys are getting it going as a whole…I think we’re capable of this.” Aaron Boone said. “Obviously, you’re not going to run out offensive nights like this every night especially against like Justin but they are capable of that. They’ve got balance. It does seem like a couple guys are getting it rolling a bit and some guys that have been carrying us, a lot of the way are still growing. So we’re just going to stay humble and turn the page.”

The skipper then said that now his sole focus is on tomorrow. He’s hoping the Yankees will continue their fine offensive form in the next game. And for the record, the Bronx Bombers won the game with a 10-3 scoreline. More importantly, 7 of those runs came during Verlander’s pitching spell. The ace gave away three home runs (Alex Verdugo, Anthony Volpe, and Giancarlo Stanton).
For the Yankees, hitting Verlander like this is a huge change. Before this, he had been a major thorn in their side. But with his defeat, the Bronx Bombers may have escaped a ghost of their past.

Before this game, Justin Verlander had an ERA of just 2.59 against the Yankees. More importantly, he was responsible for the Pinstripes’ postseason exits on multiple occasions. Per MLB.com, Verlander has won four of five starts against the Yankees in the postseason. Imagine it, before this game, Verlander had never given away more than 4 runs in Yankee Stadium (In an Astros uniform).
So while Aaron Boone is staying humble, this game could prove to be a major turning point for the Yankees. They’ve finally conquered the one player they’ve never been able to overcome. More importantly for the first time in years, their biggest kryptonite, the Houston Astros, aren’t looking good. Could all of this make 2024 a rather special year for the Yankees? The chances are definitely high.
