Babe Ruth is one of the most celebrated names in baseball and was a legendary player during his time. He is widely considered the first real two-way player in MLB history and was the first to excel at both batting and pitching. Many iconic pictures of Ruth can be found all over the place from his career.

There aren’t as many pictures from after his retirement and his life away from baseball. But a rare photo that has resurfaced after many years shows Babe Ruth and a glimpse into his life after baseball.

A picture of Babe Ruth taken in 1947 has been shared by “Baseball in Pics.” The image shows Ruth sitting in a lounge chair with his arm around his dog. The picture is a sneak peek into the legend’s life after baseball and a rare one where he is not wearing a baseball uniform.

Baseball in Pics shared the image and quoted, “Babe Ruth relaxing with his dog in Miami Beach, 1947”. According to reports, Ruth had received treatments for cancer at the time and had gone to Miami to rest and recover.

The picture has received a reaction from a number of fans. Some loved the dog, while others noticed the clothes he was wearing. Most fans were just happy to see the image of him.

This picture is a way to remember one of the greatest baseball players of all time and possibly the greatest two-way player ever. The only player to draw comparisons to Babe Ruth is Shohei Ohtani. But Ruth was a different beast altogether and played in a different era. Many people love Ruth, but Red Sox fans will wonder why he got away.

The 103rd anniversary of Babe Ruth’s sale to the Yankees recently passed and the opinion on the deal hasn’t changed. Many still consider it one of the worst deals in baseball history for the Boston Red Sox. They got $100,000 for their best player and suffered an 86-year World Series title drought.
