At the beginning of September, Steinbrenner told the Associated Press, “We’re going to take a very deep dive into everything we’re doing…This year was obviously unacceptable.” While of course promises have been made before, some are genuinely surprised to see the Yankees owner take responsibility. As assured, the Pinstripes’ management has hired a third-party company to audit them.

Jomboy’s latest podcast discusses what it essentially means as Jimmy O’Brien says, “They said they were gonna audit the analytics department, contract a third party. They did that, we don’t know the company. So even if they were to go on a run, they’re still getting audited.”

As was feared throughout the season, the Bronx Bombers may actually avoid that. In a late-season rally, the Yankees have decided to end the year with some dignity and have climbed up to fourth in the AL East.
Avoiding what would be a losing record for the first time in 30 years, the injury-plagued roster is managing somehow. Shockingly, they may make the Wild Card, something no one thought was possible up until a few weeks ago.
