It is a truth universally acknowledged that the fashion and modeling industries might not be the kindest workplaces. In a field where looks are given importance over the skills of any individual, the pressure can sometimes be overwhelming. One person who has seen every side of the modeling world is Hannah Jeter, the wife of MLB’s great Derek Jeter.

The couple has been married since 2016 and now have three daughters. But before they had even met each other in 2012, both had lived very different lives. Mrs. Jeter used to be a tennis player but then got discovered as a model, starting a career at age 16. Perhaps because she started so young, she’s seen it all. And a few years ago, she opened up about how she finally found acceptance in the industry.

It took a long time for Hannah Jeter to feel welcomed as a model

Despite the early start in her career, Hannah has talked about how difficult it was for her to find acceptance. Everyone wanted something different from her, and she felt like she didn’t have a place there. Talking to Editorial in 2021, Jeter discussed the one gig that changed her career – Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model.

“A few years before I got the cover, when I was just a girl in the magazine, I remember talking to my agent and saying, ‘Okay, what should I do before the shoot? Do I need to dye my hair? Do I need to lose weight?’ And they were like, ‘Girl, they love you as you are,'” she told Rachel Rosenblit.

Jeter continued, “So I started working out differently, I started eating differently. I got out of my head a little bit. I felt this power of, you know what? I can be whoever I want to be. I finally felt, frankly, accepted. This business is not typically one that loves you how you are. So that was very liberating.”

Where are Hannah and Derek Jeter now?

The couple is still seen in public, but both parents are more focused on their daughters for now. Hannah hasn’t done any modeling in the last five years, preferring to take care of her family. The former Yankee is much the same and is a devoted family man now. He shares updates about his girls on social media from time to time.
