Way before when Donald Trump was not the president of the United States, he often took a dig at the then-Yankees slugger A-Rod. This remains a mystery why Trump probably never liked A-Rod.

Dating back to the 2012 MLB season, when A-Rod was already a superstar for the Pinstripes, Trump slammed the Yankees star for literally no reason. And what made the case worse was that while criticizing A-Rod, the former US President kept praising A-Rod’s teammate, Derek Jeter.

Per NY Daily News, Donald Trump was on a Sunday show of the NBC reality show. And when he got to know that the 80s pop star Debbie Gibson did not care who took the credit for her song as long as her team won, he compared this whole scenario to Alex Rodriguez and Jeter.

The former US President said backing the team for the team is more of a Jeter-type statement, not A-Rod. On one hand, he bashed A-Rod, and on the other hand, Trump praised the former Yankees captain.
“That’s all about winning; that’s a Derek Jeter-type statement,” Trump said. “We love Derek. That’s not an A-Rod statement; it’s a Derek statement.”
Notably, this was not the first time Trump took a dig at A-Rod. He also blamed the Yankees superstar when the Pinstripes lost to the Detroit Tigers in the 2011 ALDS. Trump called A-Rod an average baseball player.
“A-Rod is a less than average baseball player now that he is unable to use drugs,” Trump said in 2011.

The reason is still unknown why Trump does not like the former Yankees star. However, A-Rod has not commented on receiving such harsh criticism from former US president Donald Trump.
