The Toronto Blue Jays are making headlines, but not for baseball. One player, in particular, has become the point of debate across social media. Anthony Bass is receiving significant attention because of some comments the pitcher made earlier on Twitter. Even the commentator at yesterday’s Blue Jays vs. Houston Astros game had some fun with it with a cheeky comment. Interestingly, Bass has played for the reigning World Series champs before, but it was surprisingly not the fact fans were interested in.

Bass has been on several teams in his MLB career, so it was only a matter of time before he had to play against one of them. But since this is a rather common occurrence in a sport like a baseball, fans didn’t pay as much attention to it. Instead, they were more interested in the pitcher’s tweet about his wife and particular flight service.

Bass’ latest remark about his pregnant wife, who was forced to clean up when her two-year-old daughter spilled some popcorn, received a variety of responses from fans. From silver spoons to entitlement, most people’s comments were entertaining.

At the Astros vs. Blue Jays game, the announcer, Geoff Blum, couldn’t help it when Bass stepped up to the diamond.“The new pitcher’s ex-Astro, Anthony Bass, on to try and clean it up,” Blum quipped on national television.

And the fans on Twitter lost it.

One fan posted the iconic Captain America moment from Avengers when Steve, a character that technically hails from the 20th century, finally understands a 21st-century reference.

Some praised Blum’s efforts at a joke.

Some truly masterful mockery indeed!

How is the matter being resolved now?

After Bass’ tweet blew up on social media, United Airlines decided to intervene in the matter. The pitcher received more backlash than the air service for his ‘first world problems’ and being ‘entitled,’ according to some fans.

He later tweeted that the airline service was looking into matters internally with the flight attendant. United Airlines also announced that more information on the issue would be appreciated. It’s possible that Bass will receive some monetary compensation to resolve the issue.
