Despite boasting some major star power, the team consistently trails at the bottom of the NL East. Most fans have given up on the season but recently, a heartwarming moment still managed to put a smile on their faces.

All the blame doesn’t lie on the players because of course, the front office had a role to play as well. Last year, Buck Showalter managed to snag the NL Manager of the Year award for how beautifully he handled the Mets. But in 2023, the club seems to have imploded in on itself, much like its AL counterpart. Nevertheless, Francisco Lindor has stood up for him time and again and their almost familial relationship shows off the field too.

Francisco Lindor’s Daughter Is a Huge Buck Showalter Fan

The Mets boast a number of talented players, even if they have failed to show it on the field. But for young kids, it’s not really their talent that makes an individual likable. Francisco Lindor has spoken before about how he is not his own daughter’s favorite person on the team. It is, in fact, Buck Showalter. This unlikely duo shares an almost grandparent-grandchild type of relationship, and fans are here for it.

Yesterday, a fan posted a sweet picture of the two on X, formerly known as Twitter. It shows Kalina Lindor in a tiny Mets jersey, walking on the field, hand in hand with Showalter. As she points to something in the distance, the Mets manager bends down as if to hear her better, with eyes focused on his star shortstop’s daughter. The post is simply captioned, “BUCK AND KALINA‼️”

While neither Lindor nor Showalter has been too popular among the Queens baseball crowd this season, this moment brought a smile to many of their faces.

When Showalter’s position was being questioned earlier this season, Lindor loyally stood up for his skipper and praised his work ethic. If nothing else, fans can appreciate the unending fealty to the front office.

When Lindor revealed that his daughter loved Showalter at a press conference last year, fans roared with laughter. Kalina then stole the spotlight with her sweet shout of “Buck!” every time she saw him, and it melted fans’ hearts. This moment was no different.

One even called him a grandpa!

The New York Mets could do with a better on-field performance this season but at least fans are happy about these sweet off-the-field moments.
