Here’s an idea that might cause a huge outroar in the Queens – Pete Alonso to get traded to the New York Yankees. Just hearing that leaves shudders on most New York Mets fans. After all, how can one imagine their golden boy, the Mr. Met himself being a part of their cross-town neighbors? But with each passing day, the possibility of such a move is increasing tremendously. However, things might not be as simple as they seem.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan had earlier shared that the Mets might be looking to trade Alonso. The reason was simple – he costs them over $20 million and will enter free agency at the end of this season. With the team already underperforming, trading away Alonso for some good prospects makes some sense. But then came reports of the New York Yankees being one of the top candidates. However, if one believes Passan – the Bronx Bombers might have a better fit elsewhere.

“There’s no better fit for the Yankees than Ryan McMahon right now,” Passan said. However, he then noted that the Colorado Rockies might not want to depart with McMahon right now. That led to him asking about Pete Alonso to the Yankees. Here Jomboy Media’s Talkin’ Jake shared how he doesn’t think the Yankees actually need the Polar Bear.

Would that be electric? Yes. Is it what I think the Yankees need? Not at all. If it happens I think we would do like five minutes of looking around at each other like ‘okay let’s roll it out there and watch four of the biggest men in baseball hit,” Jake said. It’s a surprising situation because despite a downturn in form Alonso remains a formidable player.

Most importantly, Ryan McMahon or Pete Alonso can solve the biggest issue currently plaguing the Bronx Bombers – the diminishing quality of their infielders.

With Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres’ inconsistency – the Yankees need infielders

Anthony Rizzo hasn’t been his usual self this season. Even though defensively he has been acceptable, Rizzo’s offense has floundered since day one. On top of that comes Gleyber Torres’ continuous defensive howlers and the Yankees have a risky situation in their hands. Can they trust these two players to perform well during the playoffs? Would that be too big of a risk?

Even though Pete Alonso isn’t in the best of forms currently, with 14 homers he still has his power. Similarly Ryan McMahon gives much-needed stability to the position he plays. These are the two things that the Yankees need right now. Perhaps that’s why even if these two players don’t wear Pinstripes, there’s a loud speculation that some other infielder might.
