Although Jeter had several famous relationships, but his one relationship with Mariah Carey was quite special, especially for their fans. During an interview, Carey even mentioned that Jeter’s family was biracial like hers. But his family had stayed together and stuck it out. That is why she was able to learn something special from them.

In the Interview, Carey said, “I really really love his family. They really taught me something special. Because coming from an interracial background, you know, he has the same type of background, exactly. And I never saw an interracial family that had stayed together and stuck it out that way. And, I learned, um, a nice lesson from them.”

But unfortunately, the relationship between the two did not last, and they broke up. The split was highly publicized and left Carey untrusting of men. Since the two seemed very much in love, fans were left wondering why they broke up.

Derek Jeter and Mariah Carey received a lot of media coverage as a couple. Cindi Berger, Carey’s spokesman at the time, mentioned the intense media coverage as the main reason. According to Entertainment Weekly, Berger said, “The media pressure was just too much for them”.

This media pressure and other issues led to their eventual breakup. Carey and Jeter had too much going on at the time and could not keep the relationship going.
