Baseball is a sport that has been around for decades, and almost everybody loves it. It transcends all kinds of boundaries and is a sport for people of all ages. Some people may believe that you can’t play baseball after a certain age. But a former professional baseball player and Boston Red Sox fan recently shut down such notions. 

95-year-old Maybelle Blair was recently seen hitting a few balls with her friends. A video of the same was shared on Twitter and caught people by surprise.

A Twitter account by the name of Baseball recently shared a video of the 95-year-old Maybelle Blair. Blair is a former professional baseball player and is a Boston Red Sox fan. In the video, you can see Blair hitting some balls that her friend is throwing at her. She gets quite a few hits and hits well.

The Twitter video was captioned, “This lady is 95 years old and she’s still out here getting swings in. This is so awesome ⚾️💯”. The former professional baseball player got decent contact on almost every ball for a 95-year-old.

The video surprised many baseball fans on Twitter and many of them reacted. Most of them shared positive comments and hyped up Blair for her swing. 

The 95-year-old showed her love for the Boston Red Sox by wearing their jersey. Many other superfans have echoed their love for the Red Sox, such as Justin Thomas. But the real focus was on Blair’s batting. As a former professional player, she showed off her skill.

A closer look at Maybelle Blair

Maybelle Blair played professional baseball and softball in the late 40s and early 50s. She played with the Peoria Redwings of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) for one season in 1948. Following this, she moved to Chicago and played in a professional softball league over there. This is where her career as a player came to an end. 

Blair focused on her studies, attending Compton Junior College and then the Los Angeles School of Physiotherapy. She worked as a nurse for a short while, following which she had a 37-year career at Northrop Corporation. Earlier this year, Blair even came out as a lesbian for the first time when she was 95.
