Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez have a long, topsy-turvy tale to tell. Their journey started off when the duo first met at a college baseball game in 1993, and slowly transformed into the two shortstops, becoming best friends. However, when Alex Rodriguez signed with the Texas Rangers and decided to go the snide way with his remarks, the first crack and the Jeter-Rodriguez friendship was formed.

Little did A-Rod know that their journey had just begun. Eventually, despite signing a ten-year contract with the Rangers, A-Rod opted out and signed with the New York Yankees, which had grown to become Derek Jeter’s indisputable home. In 2004, when Rodriguez landed in New York, the two shortstops became teammates for the first time.

Now, eight years since the former New York Yankees captain bid adieu to the ballpark, the two 2009 Yankees World Championship teammates are set to become teammates again.

Will A-Rod have to switch from shortstop for Derek Jeter this time too?

When the 2003 American League MVP signed with the Bronx Bombers in 2004, crediting Jeter’s already established position at shortstop, A-Rod had to move to third base. Which was a smooth transition. Now, long years after, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter become teammates again in the broadcasting giant, Fox Sports’ home.
