As the days go by, the Oakland Athletics’ move to Las Vegas becomes more certain. But there are still a lot of processes to go through before the shift is finalized. Fans have protested the $1.5 billion move but to no avail. With the process continuing in the background, a top MLB Players Association executive recently called for a quick resolution.

The situation has dragged on for far longer than any involved party would have wanted, especially fans in Oakland. But it is sure to take longer with the Athletics in the process for 75 percent support.

Over the last couple of months, the Athletics have progressed on a move to Las Vegas. Team owner John Fisher has seen a lot of flak for his lacking investment in roster-building and winning. Furthermore, it has had a profound impact on the people involved in the shift. Most recently, MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark emphasized the need for a quick resolution. He spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle while detailing how many people are getting caught up in the messy situation.

While speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle, Clark said, “The need for the concerns in Oakland to be remedied sooner rather than later is in everyone’s best interest.” He further said, “There are a lot of folks that are affected by what’s happening. Obviously, the players on the field are affected. Players in other organizations. The fans themselves, as we already know, are being affected.” 

This seems to be his way of calling for billionaire owner Fisher to move a little quicker in getting the move done. There are still a few processes in place as final details and decisions have to be made. But the Athletics’ current situation has left a sour taste in certain insiders’ and experts’ mouths. One even slated Fisher openly in a candid Tweet.

In a candid and harsh Tweet in late May, Ben Verlander called for John Fisher to sell the Athletics. He mentioned that the team had won only 10 games at that point and was on pace for 30 wins at that point. Verlander then called out Fisher, asking him to sell the team if he doesn’t care. He echoed the sentiments that were and are still bubbling inside many fans and experts.
