Most recently, a top MLB insider shared a shocking $117.8 million fact regarding the Yankees and their injury woes.
Although injuries and health issues are unpredictable, the Bronx Bombers seem to have extremely bad luck. And this most recent update sheds new light on the extent of the Yankees’ injury woes.

Both during Spring Training and the regular season, the New York Yankees suffered injury setbacks. Furthermore, there are some players that suffered injuries last season. Most recently, MLB insider Bryan Hoch revealed that the Bronx Bombers’ 12 injured players take up $117.8 million of the payroll.
This beats the total payroll of the 26-man rosters of 13 teams. Hoch shared the startling news via Twitter, confirming the extent of the plight that the Yankees face.

In a Tweet, he said, “The Yankees’ injured list (12 players) currently has a payroll of $117.8MM, which is more than the 26-man rosters of 13 @MLB teams: DET, SEA, MIL, KC, CLE, MIA, AZ, WAS, PIT, TB, BAL, OAK, CIN”. The New York-based MLB team has dealt with severe injuries this season, losing some of their top players to the dreaded injured list.
This season, the Bronx Bombers suffered injuries to their pitching roster and other stars. The most costly being injuries to Carlos Rodon, Giancarlo Stanton, Harrison Bader, and Luis Severino, among others. Stanton was the most recent to suffer an injury. But this is nowhere near the havoc they faced in 2019.

2019 was a historic year for the Yankees in terms of injuries
Although the New York Yankees have a history of injuries, 2019 was a particularly bad year. According to MLB.com, they ended up “establishing a Major League record by having 30 players serve 39 stints on the injured list”.
It was a truly devastating year for the team, but they managed to win 103 regular season games, winning the AL East.
