Mary Hart, the longtime host of Entertainment Tonight and a beloved Hollywood figure, is no stranger to the spotlight. She is the epitome of elegance and charm—and also a regular at Dodger Stadium for years now. You could see her cheer from her usual seat behind the home plate. But during a recent Dodgers-Blue Jays matchup, Hart’s night could have taken a scary turn when her husband was struck by a foul ball!

A trip to the ER wouldn’t have been surprising. And as the crowd and officials rushed, came a comment completely uncalled for. “Should’ve brought your glove.”

The commentator? None other than the Blue Jays broadcaster, Buck Martinez. This On-air comment left viewers simply stunned.

The remark was given just moments after the frightening incident.

Given that Hart’s husband is a senior citizen, he could have been seriously hurt. The comment seemed “tone deaf” and, as fans mentioned, “cold.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Martinez has found himself in hot water due to his commentary.

Just a few weeks earlier, he took a jab at the New York Yankees after the Blue Jays’ base-running blunder in the World Series—only for the play to backfire on Toronto moments later. The irony was not lost on fans, who accused the veteran broadcaster of letting his sarcasm and even his bias get the best of him.

Sure, Martinez has been a staple in the Toronto Blue Jays’ broadcasting for decades. He is known to be the blunt guy who sometimes gives controversial remarks. But this latest one is more on the “empathy” factor being missing in sports media. That moment called for safety and not snark, which he was more focused on.

Thankfully, the video showed Mary Hart’s husband looking well. But for Martinez, this slip of the tongue may linger longer than a bad call on the field.

Now, talking of fans, while Hart’s husband might be unlucky, one fan was rather extremely lucky!

The Toronto Blue Jays fan who caught a piece of MLB history in his hands

For every Toronto Blue Jays fan living through this postseason, there is a personal moment that defines it. For Austin Jenkins from Ontario, though, there is one moment that might just go down in baseball history.

It all started on a random Thursday night when he got a surprise from his dad. “He told me we were going to Game 1 of the World Series, and I was in complete shock,” Jenkins recalled in an interview with Offside. But little did he know that the shock didn’t end there.

Fast forward to section 103B, second row—this is where Jenkins sat, oblivious to what was going to happen. In the sixth inning, with Toronto leading 5-2, pinch-hitter Addison Barger stepped up and did the unthinkable—he hit the first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history.

The ball came right towards Jenkins, and somehow, thanks to his lucky stars, he held on to the ball even in chaos. “The emotions of the moment still haven’t cooled down. It was and is the highest adrenaline rush I’ll ever feel in my life.”

Jenkins then lifted that ball in complete joy—because he literally has a piece of MLB history in his hands. His brother then picked him up, and snapshots of that went viral on social media. But now comes the hard part—deciding what he will do with it.

The Jays have already connected Jenkins with Barger and his agent. But he hasn’t made up his mind. This kind of memorabilia usually sells for tens or even hundreds of dollars. But even then, Jenkins is not rushing it. “Once my emotions calm down a bit, and I can fully think with a clear mind, I’ll make a decision.”

For now, he is soaking in the moment, the memory, and the history that he has his hands on.
