Forget Sho, where is Bo? Well, Bo Bichette could be in the thick of a World Series comeback, and it’s what Toronto Blue Jays fans have been wanting and waiting for months now. After missing nearly two months due to a knee injury, the 27-year-old shortstop might finally return to action, and just in time for the biggest stage in baseball.

During the Thursday media session, John Schneider, their manager, gave an update—he hinted at some exciting opportunities for Bo’s role if he is cleared to play. He mentioned Bichette could see time at shortstop, second base, or DH in WS. “We’re kind of coming right down to the wire with it. I could see all three of those things happening, to be honest with you. Just kind of have to talk to him after the workout today, see how comfortable he felt doing everything, and make the best decision.”

And now Jon Heyman of the New York Post confirmed that Bichette will have a spot in the lineup depending on how he performs in the workouts leading up to Friday’s game 1 against the Dodgers. “Bo Bichette is a candidate for 2B, SS, or DH, depending a bit on how today’s workout goes.

Well, before the injury had sidelined Bichette in early September, Bichette was enjoying one of the best seasons of his life. Through 139 games, he had hit .311 with a .357 on-base percentage, 181 hits, 18 home runs, and 94 RBIs. If you have to credit someone for Toronto’s success this year, his name will also be there—he has been consistent, and his leadership qualities were a class apart.

And honestly, he feels deeply for the team, and when asked about the status of his return, Bo Bichette this time didn’t hold back. Not only did he answer how he is feeling bodily, but also how he is doing emotionally.  “Feeling good enough.” And about his team, he said, “We love being around each other, we love playing for each other, we love picking each other up—all those team qualities. This is the best team I’ve ever been on.”

Plus, sitting in a rather crappy waiting room, he did say that once they won the ALCS, the wait was getting too hard. “Once we won the ALCS, I turned my focus to this. Today’s a big day. I’m going to go out there and see what more I can do… It’s not really in my hands. But I sure hope so.”

Game 1 of the World Series kicks off Friday at 8 pm EST in Toronto. If he takes the field, it will be a huge statement.

Trey Yesavage is picked as the Blue Jays’ Game 1 starter

A year ago, Trey Yesavage was facing college hitters in East Carolina. But on Friday night, he would be on the mound to open the World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays against defending champion Blake Snell and the mighty Dodgers. His story is honestly nothing short of a movie.

The 22-year-old rookie only debuted on September 15, and he has already made more postseason stars than regular-season ones. Friday will be his fourth playoff start and one of the biggest moments of his young career. He was drafted 20th overall last year, and he has skimmed past the farm system in only five months. Across the four levels, he struck out 170 batters in 98 innings!

As for starting Game 1, Yesavage knows what it means to wear the Maple Leaf on his sleeve, saying, “We’re this country’s team, so we want to make Canada proud. I thank the Lord every day for this opportunity. I never even dreamed of being here, but I’m embracing it fully—and I’m so happy to be here.” As far as the rest of the rotation goes, the manager has kept it under wraps. Schneider mentioned that he hasn’t decided between Kevin Gausman, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber for Game 2. Chris Bassitt, the veteran right-hander with 31 regular-season starts, will also likely stay in the bullpen for now.
