The Los Angeles Dodgers are having an unprecedented offseason. In a few days, they have done more than $800 million in deals. But it was the trade and then the subsequent $135 million extension with the contract of Tyler Glasnow that surprised everyone. Although Glasnow was a tremendous ace his recent injury record increased the risk of having him. Glasnow has now revealed how everything transpired for him.

Tyler Glasnow and Los Angeles Dodgers: A Love Story

Glasnow’s home is in California; as a result, he always wanted to play in this state. But as luck would have it, he was playing for the Rays in Florida. As a result, Glasnow had the Los Angeles Dodgers on top of his shortlist. Though he was at risk of being traded elsewhere, Glasnow had his own plans, as he revealed to the MLB Network.

“The chances of me getting traded to a team this year that I didn’t want to go to were relatively high… I really want to go the Dodgers. By signing an extension I can for sure go there and I can stay there. It just worked out for me.”

In a way, Glasnow confessed that the extension was a way for him to fulfill his wish to play for the Dodgers. Glasnow clarified that his objective was never more money. He was more focused on which team would give him happiness and satisfaction. He called this a “win-win” deal for all parties.

The Rays have reduced their payroll and gotten good prospects in return. Conversely, the Dodgers avoided the bidding war that Glasnow’s free agency could have had by getting him earlier. And Glasnow is just happy to be back home in California.

The Dodgers are continuously growing stronger this offseason. First by adding Shohei Ohtani and now with Tyler Glasnow, the team seems packed. And they’re still behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto but that deal seems to be in jeopardy.

The Blue Crews’ offseason could have its first shock

Even though the Blue Crew were considered co-favorites in the Yamamoto sweepstakes, it seems things have changed for them. Popular Insider Jon Heyman recently wrote that the Dodgers’ run might get cut short due to Yamamoto’s preference for more of a share in the spotlight.

However, due to the entry of Tyler Glasnow, the rotation lineup of the Dodgers looks strong. Having Yamamoto would’ve given it a strong one-two punch. Whatever the case, the offseason of the Blue Crew is one for the history books.
