Disputed MLB legend Barry Bonds may never get his Hall of Fame induction for obvious reasons. And being very well aware of the same, the San Francisco Giants legend has been moving forward in his life. Notably, this year was the last chance for Bonds to get his HOF induction, but he, once again, failed to get 75% or more votes. However, if not for the HOF induction, the 58-year-old recently earned something very unique, joining the likes of Hollywood actor Tom Hardy.

Years after getting retired from the game he played for over two decades, Bonds turned himself toward practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Bonds have immersed himself in the world of martial arts for a few years now. And most recently, the disputed home run king has achieved a significant milestone. He did so by following in the footsteps of Oscar-nominee actor Tom Hardy.

Barry Bonds could not keep athleticism away from him

After enjoying an illustrious career, Bonds bid farewell to the game in 2007. Despite the countless accolades and records to his name, the Giants legend could not get himself inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame following his connections to steroids and BALCO Scandal. But that did not stop him from entering the new world of mixed martial arts. And once he started, he became hooked.

The Peaky Blinders fame, Hardy, who is an avid practitioner of BJJ, recently earned his purple belt, which is the third level for adults. Following in his footsteps is controversial baseball legend Barry Bonds, who earned the second-level belt for adults, the blue belt.

“I’ve been promoted by idols Rickson Gracie and Xande and Saulo [Ribeiro]. But I’ve never been able to promote my idol”, said Bonds’ coach John Janero before calling him from his group of students. Then Janero proceeded to remove Bonds’ beginner’s white belt and put on the new blue belt.

Did Bonds take steroids?

In the late 1990s, Bonds became the sole achiever of the iconic 400/400 record. But later, it was revealed that Bonds had taken steroids prior to making that record.

Unintentionally or not, Bonds reportedly took steroids. And it was the first of many controversies that kept him away from the end goal of a ballplayer, the HOF induction.
