The ‘Talkin’ Yanks’ podcast group recently shared a video of Yankee Stadium on their Twitter handle. MLB originally posted the video on Twitter. The video gives an intimate, thorough look at the stadium.

The video gave an insider’s view of the magnificence of Yankee Stadium. The honorary plaques of Yankees legends installed in the stadium got a quick look at. There were also two former Yankees players present in the video.

The magnificence of the Yankee Stadium 

The MLB stadium that presently stands in the Bronx, got built, in 2006. The construction got finally completed by 2009. From there onwards, the new stadium replaced the earlier one. It’s a multipurpose stadium.

The Yankee Stadium is home to the New York Yankees. The stadium also hosts the New York City FC in Major League Soccer. Apart from that, the stadium has hosted outdoor NHL games and concerts. It’s one of the most globally expensive stadiums ever built. It ranks sixth on the list of the most expensive stadiums across the world.

The Yankee stadium is the third largest MLB stadium, with a total seating capacity of 54,251. While, the frontrunners on that count are the Oakland Coliseum and the Dodger Stadium, respectively. The design structure also follows the original Yankee Stadium to a large degree.

The stadium’s promotional video also had appearances from Yankees legends, Bernie Williams and Hideki Matsui. Williams played his entire MLB career as the Yankees’ center fielder. He is a five-time All-Star player and four-time World Series champion. On the other hand, Matsuki played for the Yankees as an outfielder and designated hitter from 2003 to 2009. He is a two-time All-Star player and a one-time World Series champion.

A brief history of the original Yankee Stadium 

The new Yankee Stadium is famous with the tags, ‘The House That Jeter Built’ and ‘The House That George Built’. While the original stadium got known as ‘The House That Ruth Built’. That stadium first opened in 1923 and underwent a renovation in the 1970s. Apart from MLB, the stadium also hosted NFL, boxing, soccer, and even circus. Lou Gehrig gave his farewell speech there in 1939 and Babe Ruth’s coffin got exhibited at the stadium ground in 1948.
