The teary-eyed Bido opened up to his mother with momentous news

The right-hand pitcher is a native of the municipal district of Navas in Los Hidalgos, Puerto Plata. This tremendous opportunity knocked on Bido’s door, probably because of his improvement this season with a two-inning start during a Grapefruit League game against the Rays.

The translated tweet read “Moments when Dominican pitcher Osvaldo Bidó, 27, receives the news of his call to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ big team and then when he, in turn, informs his mother. Bidó signed at age 21 with a $10,000 bonus. He is a native of the municipal district of Navas, in Los Hidalgos, Puerto Plata. His statistics this season with the Indianapolis, Triple-A team: 3-4, ERA 4.55, 12 J, 10 Outs, 55.1 IP, 46 H, 28 CL, 26 BB, 56 SO, WHIP 1.30”

However, Bido’s association with Pirates isn’t new. The Pirates signed the Dominican pitcher as an international free agent in 2017, wherein he created notable statistics.

Pittsburgh Pirates Inked Osvaldo Bido as a Free Agent in 2017

The 27-year-old has amassed 121 appearances in the minor leagues throughout his professional career. Primarily as a starting pitcher, with 108 of those starts to his name. Bido signed as an international free agent for the Pittsburgh Pirates in March 2017. Two years back, he reached the Triple-A level in 2021. Throughout the season with the Indianapolis Indians, Bido has accumulated a 4.55 ERA across 12 games, 10 of which were starts. The right-handed pitcher has recorded 26 walks and 56 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings.

As a part of this big association, the pitcher is anticipated to join the Pittsburgh Pirates against Chicago Cubs in the three-series game in Chicago. Although Bido hasn’t ignited the baseball world at the Triple-A this season, his MLB debut may bring some solid starts for the Pirates with his developmental traction.
