Any sportsperson who has played at a professional level has made sure that they give back to the sport that has given them everything. And now, Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is also following in the same steps paved by stars like Mike Trout and Mookie Betts.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr has reportedly signed a 2-year deal with FlexWork Sports’ baseball programming. He has become the first brand ambassador for a premier youth sports experiential company.
After signing the deal, Guerrero Jr. said, “I was born in Canada, play in Canada, and want to give back to the kids who grew up watching me… This partnership gives me the platform.”
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s deal with FlexWork Sports is something that could define the future of baseball in a few places, like Canada. With this deal, Guerrero Jr. will be hosting eleven youth events in the span of his two-year contract. The first event will be held in Hamilton, Ontario, on July 30, and the next will be in Toronto on August 24th.

But this is not the first time these two parties have joined hands. In 2025, they had joined hands too, and that is when FlexWork Sports decided they wanted Vladdy. Guerrero Jr., remembering the last event, said, “After hosting an incredible event with FlexWork Sports in Toronto last year, I knew I wanted to build something bigger with lasting impact.”
In 2025, they held a youth baseball camp in Toronto. It was a double-session youth camp, and around 1200 kids had attended this program. Guerrero didn’t just show up for the program; he stayed through sessions, interacted, and worked directly with kids.
FlexWork Sports has run over 2000 youth events across 44 states and 18 countries. They have worked with players like Mike Trout and Mookie Betts, who have also been a part of these sessions. They have been part of drills and sessions where kids have learnt about the fundamentals of the game and adjusting to in-game situations.
FlexWork’s expansion into the United States and the Dominican Republic will align with Vladdy’s reach and fanbase. For youth players, access to stars and structured sessions offers measurable learning, confidence, and exposure. But it’s not all good news.
While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. tries to support the youth, the MLBPA has shut down a youth program
The MLBPA had to shut down Players Way, the youth baseball initiative, because it is being looked into during a federal investigation. Federal investigators from the Eastern District of New York began probing MLBPA finances in October. This comes as a result of the reports that suggest that the union misused the resources it had.
The MLBPA confirmed the closure while holding over $400 million in liquid reserves. That reserve figure comes from its latest LM-2 filing, submitted to government agencies annually. Players Way was founded by Tony Clark and aimed to run clinics, camps, and amateur showcases nationwide.
This has come under investigation after many reports came to light about Tony Clark‘s alleged wrongdoings.
Sources told investigators the union invested close to $10 million into Players Way. The MLBPA publicly reported only $3.9 million in spending in official statements. One former senior official described the initiative’s finances as a black box.
Clark approved multiple six-figure transfers from union funds to sustain Players Way operations. The whistleblower complaint also accused Clark of nepotism, self-dealing, and abuse of power. That limited disclosure and rising costs fueled concerns about transparency, accountability, and union governance.
