The 2022 MLB season is all about the resurgence of the old guns. And Matt Carpenter is a recent example of it. Just a couple of weeks ago, Matt Carpenter did not have any MLB team to play. The Texas Rangers threw him out into a minor league team. And now, Carpenter is playing for the best baseball team.

2022 has been truly special for the Yankees. Whatever they are touching is turning into gold. Nestor Cortes Jr., Jameson Taillon, and now Matt Carpenter are a few examples of this. In a recent game against the Chicago Cubs, Carpenter ran the show from the plate.

The 36-year-old infielder smacked two home runs and seven RBIs against the Cubs. He helped the Yankees score their biggest total of the season. With this win, the Yankees swept the Cubs in a three-game series.

Matt Carpenter has been the best story of the 2022 season. From warming the bench of the Texas Rangers to winning games for the current best team in baseball, says a lot about his transformation.

Per MLB.com, Carpenter became only the second player in the modern era to smash six home runs out of his first seven hits for an MLB side. Talking about his resurgence, Carpenter said he put a lot of good work to get back to his form.

“I’ve played the game long enough to know what it feels like and looks like when I’m right. This is certainly that,” Carpenter said. “I can have competitive at-bats every time I get in there. It got away from me the last few years, but I was able to put in a lot of good work. A lot of people helped me get it back.”

“Honestly, it was a lot of fun to be out there. I’ve been waiting for that first ‘Roll Call.’ I was pretty excited for it. I just knew I needed to go play.”

Can the Yankees end their title drought in 2022?

It has been over 12 years since the New York Yankees won the World Series in 2009. Since then, the Yankees have not been the same. However, the current season has given lots of hope to end their title drought.

With 44 wins out of 60 games, the Yankees have the best win record in the entire MLB. Whether it is the offense or the defense, the Yankees have no competition this season. They are in a league of their own.

And if they continue to play like this for the rest of the season, they might win the World Series.
