One brand that Rodriguez signed with was none other than Nike. The MLB star would appear in advertisements for the behemoth sporting brand.

Furthermore, he wore all of their equipment during his time as a Nike athlete. In the 1990s, Rodriguez once shot a creative commercial with Nike that delighted fans and followers alike. But after his PEDs scandal, it took on a different meaning.

In the 1990s, Alex Rodriguez was at the height of his popularity. He was experiencing his best form at the time. Numerous brands wanted to work with him. During that time, he shot a commercial with Nike that had a creative angle. The video showed A-Rod putting a baseball, some legendary players’ baseball cards, sneakers, and a baseball bat, among other things, and juicing them together. He then proceeded to drink the odd juice as the commercial ended. But following his PED scandals in 2009 and 2014, it has taken a different meaning. 

The word juiced or juicing can also refer to people using steroids. This Nike Commercial was affected by A-Rod’s use of PEDs. In an article, USA Today said, “The 2009 press conference where Alex Rodriguez admitted to “making mistakes” in a ‘loosey-goosey era’ was hardly the first time he copped to juicing. In this Nike commercial from Rodriguez’s Seattle Mariners days, he pursued a less popular performance-enhancer”.

Rodriguez’s scandals have put a sour taste in many baseball fans’ mouths. But the former New York Yankees star has done a great job rebuilding his image after retiring. A-Rod has become an extremely successful businessman, among other things.
