David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez are not just ordinary MLB players, they are more than legends for the Boston Red Sox. Having played for close to 20 years in Major League Baseball, Ortiz and Ramirez have played together for six years for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox fans will always remember Ortiz and Ramirez for breaching the “Curse of the Bambino.” Notably, the duo helped the Red Sox win their first World Series in the 21st century. The 2004 World Series victory was special in so many ways for the Red Sox.

Although the Red Sox still misses the service of their star duo, the new generation of Ortiz and Ramirez is all set to take over the legacy. Yes! Recently, in a collegiate game, David Ortiz’s son and Manny Ramirez’s son played together in a ballpark and brought the old memories back.

However, there is good news for the Red Sox fans. Because since Ortiz and Ramirez have bid farewell to the game, their sons might be a new fit for the Red Sox in the coming days. Although D’Angelo Ortiz and Manny Ramirez Jr. are yet to make their big league debut, the newest duo grabbed attention with their latest outing in a college-level baseball game.

Taking to Twitter, the Red Sox MLB journalist Pete Abraham shared a video. In the video, one can see how D’Angelo Ortiz and Ramirez Jr. are playing together.

Abraham captioned the video, “D’Angelo Ortiz drives in Manny Ramirez Jr. and I suddenly feel very old.”

What is the Curse of the Bambino?

The last time the Red Sox won a World Series before the 2004 season was during the 1918 season. To those who do not know, before playing his first game for the New York Yankees, Babe Ruth made his MLB debut for the Red Sox. 

Ever since Ruth moved to the Yankees, the Red Sox did not win a single World Series until the 2004 season.

People named it the “Curse of the Bambino.” Notably, Bambino was one of the many nicknames of Babe Ruth.
