Concurrently came the transition of Captain Clutch, from the leader of the New York Yankees to a father of three daughters. Five years since Derek met Hannah and one year into their marriage, news of their first child started doing rounds on the internet.

But unlike Hannah, Derek had no idea that his first child was going to be a girl, let alone the fact that his other two children were also girls.

In an interview with Maggie Gray from Sports Illustrated in 2017, Hannah Jeter discussed her husband and Hall of Famer Derek Jeter’s reaction to the news of having a daughter.

Today, the couple has three daughters, Bella Raine, Story Grey, and their youngest daughter, River Rose; born in 2017, 2019, and 2021, respectively.

Hannah revealed that while Derek knew she was pregnant, he had no idea that it was a girl. She said, “Well, he knew I was pregnant, but he didn’t know we were having a girl.” The supermodel, who was then expecting her first child, continued to talk about how she announced their baby’s sex to Derek. And she said, “So yeah, I just blew up some balloons and had him in the house.”

A photograph from the day went viral, where Derek Jeter was holding the pink balloons after he found that he was going to have a daughter. While describing the look on the five-time World Champion’s face, Hannah said, “It was an uh-oh face. ‘Yeah it’s a girl.'”

After a series of unsuccessful relationships, Derek Jeter met Hannah for the first time in 2012 through a few mutual friends. The supermodel and shortstop instantly hit it off and started dating in the same year. However, akin to Jeter’s entire personal life, his relationship with Hannah, too, was consistently kept on the down-low.

In 2015, through a blog post, while talking about his dog, Derek Jeter announced his engagement to Hannah Davis. And one year later, in July 2016, Derek and Hannah tied the knot in an intimate and private ceremony in Napa Valley.
