Judge leads the home run count this season and appears the top favorite to win the American League MVP Award. But he has stiff competition. That challenge comes in the form of a sensational player from the Los Angeles Angels roster.
Aaron Judge and his quintessential rival to the throne
Aaron Judge has already mounted up 200+ total home runs in his MLB career. Judge has reached the ’50 home runs mark this season and has done it twice in his career. He is only the 10th player in baseball history to do so. Judge’s achievements make him the obvious choice for the MVP Award this year. But in such a lengthy tournament involving numerous teams, no one gets an uncontested run. So contesting with Judge is Angels’ all-round superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The Yankees and the Angels faced off their series opener on Monday night as Judge hit his milestone 50th home run of the season. But Ohtani spoiled the Yankees’ efforts with a two-run homer. The Angels later posted the Ohtani home run clip on Twitter. The promotional quote was, “That’s our MVP”.
The journey ahead for the two teams
The Angels defeated the Yankees by a 4-3 margin in the last game. Although, no amount of victories will help the Angels anymore. Because they are already out of any title contention. On the other hand, the Yankees are still American League East chart toppers. However, their growing inconsistency is now a thing of concern.
