Justin Verlander has just gone and done it. With the ace only signing with the New York Mets this past off-season, the Citi Field will no longer see Verlander pitch. And while the move has been in the baseball transfer for a few days leading up to Deadline Day, very few saw the transfer going through. However, like all the batter that faced him, Verlander has just thrown us all a curveball.

The $86 million Mets star has been the source of much talk in recent days. With the star almost single-handedly being the headline switch this Deadline Day. However, upon completing his switch, most fans have had interesting, if polarizing, reactions.

MLB Ace Makes a Deadline Day Switch

According to Fox Sports, the multiple time Cy Young Award winner has made the switch back to the Houston Astros at the Minute Maid Park in a Deadline Day deal. And while fans in Astros threads will rejoice, the Mets faithful will be left scratching their heads as to what happened?

Verlander made the switch to the National League just this past off season. The ace signed a $86 million two-year contract with the Mets, which reportedly also included a player option for the third year. The trade will see the Mets acquire the services of outfielders Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford with further details of the deal awaited.

However, the Houston Astros will be buoyant after the reacquisition of their 2022 ace. In a twist of fate, the franchise has reacquired the services of the ace despite losing him to free agency past off season. And the fans were quick to react.
