When the series was on the line in the third game against the Baltimore Orioles, Aaron Boone brought two newbies to throw pitches from the mound. And guess what? It worked for the Yankees, as JP Sears and Ron Marinaccio both were exceptional from the mound.

The Yankees made no big signings in the 2022 free agency. No doubt about that. Because they focused on building a squad instead of landing big names. In a recent game against the Orioles, JP Sears and Ron Marinaccio stole the show from the mound.

“When we were breaking camp, we were talking about 15 or even 16 pitchers to start the season…,” Boone said. “Tonight we got to see two of those guys that got put on the 40-man roster this year. And you saw for good reason Marinaccio was terrific in a big role to give us a couple of innings there in the middle and obviously JP starting it out…”

The Yankees manager also opened up about the depth of his roster. Boone said how essential all the players are for a successful season.

“We need to lean on those guys right now and over the course of the year, you are going to need to tap into your depth. And good to see those guys step up in some high-level situations,” Boone said to YES Network.
