However, to this day Bonds’ record of most home runs stands disputed. He is disputed because of his admission of unknowingly taking steroids that might have helped him break the record of most home runs in a career by Hank Aaron.?
No matter disputed or undisputed, Bayless still considers Barry Bonds as a player to have a legendary charisma. In his show, he said, “When I think of legendary auras, magnetic stature, people I’ve been around and felt the power of, I think of Ali,… I think of Michael Jordan,….. Tiger Woods,… I think of Barry Bonds. We’re talking about immortally great here.”
Bayless covered Bonds for three years, and tried to know him but couldn’t because Bonds never let anybody know him. But he still kept a close eye and observed him day to day.
