Sometimes in the world of sports, rules are thrown to the winds. This time, it is the baseball in the United States that leaves experts’ and commoners’ heads scratching alike. In the just concluded NLCS and ALCS, two teams- the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Rangers are facing each other on Friday for the world title. Both have been underperformers in recent times. None was a threat to any decimated favorites, be it the Phillies or Atlanta Braves, or the Houston’s, at the beginning of the season.
But MLB 2023 turned out to be unexpected. It showed that if money was a differentiator, then two teams, that fall at the bottom of the payroll list, won’t make it here. Arizona Diamondbacks falls at 21 on the payroll list. They had no time to return to the World Championship, 22 years after they defeated the legendary New York Yankees. But the payroll team of $116 million defeated the $276 million payroll team of the Phillies that had classics like Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos.
Is the army in the Arizona Diamondbacks ready to take on the fight?

The D-bucks for sure do have some talented players. They hit the stage with Corbin Carrol, leading the team from the front. The 16 million dollar player was instrumental in fighting against the Phillies and taking the team to the World Championship. It was no less than a miracle that he went to the battlefield without the highest-paid player Madison Bumgarner. Madison has not been with the team since April over his performance with the Cardinals.

Pitcher Ketel Marte ($11,600,000), the second-highest-paid player in the Ducks, was not only to get the tickets for the World Series but also set a record. He was awarded the 2023 National League Championship Series Award. Given his performance, he could be instrumental in the WS fight. A miracle or team’s performance, or just an event carried by 26 players contributing as catchers, pitchers, infielders, and outfielder.
