Looking at the dynamics of the roster, you’d know how legendary it’s going to be. On one hand, we’ve got the Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani and skipper Dave Roberts to look after the National League. They are set to go against the American League Team led by Yankees skipper Aaron Boone and Yankees star Aaron Judge.

The starting pitchers are going to be Paul Skenes—the generational phenom from the Pittsburgh Pirates (NL)—and Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers (AL).

To your surprise, for the anniversary of Hank Aaron’s 715th home run, there will be a special tribute to him during the event. Stay tuned!

Who participated in the Home Run Derby? Know the names.

Let’s just say the league’s eight biggest sluggers featured this season. The competitors were:

  • James Wood,
  • Byron Buxton,
  • Oneil Cruz,
  • Jazz Chisholm Jr.,
  • Cal Raleigh,
  • Matt Olson,
  • Junior Caminero, and
  • Brent Rooker.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Shohei Ohtani steal the show at the All-Star Game, or will Aaron Judge outshine him?

Who won the Home Run Derby 2025?

Drumroll, please… It’s the Seattle Mariners phenom Cal Raleigh! And he needs to thank the 8-year-old Cal for manifesting the title. 20 years later, Big Cal has clinched it. “I’m the Home Run Derby champ,” little Raleigh was seen in a video shared by Front Office Sports that’s now winning millions of hearts.

His dad, Todd Sr., who captured 8-year-old Cal, was with his son on the pitching mound on Monday night. Raleigh also had the company of his brother Todd Jr. as a catcher. It’s indeed historic given the fact that Raleigh is the first catcher and switch-hitter to win the HR Derby. And he is only the second Mariners player to win since Ken Griffey Jr.

He entered the All-Star week as a home run leader, leading the league with 38 homers to his name. He recorded 17 on Monday night to advance to the semis. But Raleigh wasn’t the only one to post 17 homers in the first round. He was tied with Bent Rooker. However, according to Statcast, Raleigh’s shot travelled 470.61 feet, whereas Rooker fell short at just 470.53. By literally an inch, Raleigh beat Rooker.

After the win, Raleigh admitted, “My goodness gracious, it’s close. It’s just crazy.” It was indeed a crazy night for Raleigh. Because it was a close call against 22-year-old Junior Caminero as the final score stood at 18-15.

Except for owning the Derby 2025, Raleigh also earned himself the title of baseball’s top slugger.
