Every baseball player was once a child who used to dream. They’d watch their heroes play in the ballpark, doing things that they’d never seen before. The kids would wonder how was any of this possible. They imagined themselves in place of their heroes, thinking of hitting home runs, or stealing a base from right under the nose of the pitcher. The biggest dream though, was to win the World Series and lift the championship trophy.

Nothing compares to the glory of the Fall Classic. Winning it once is a tremendous achievement, but some legends have done it many times over. Here are the players with the most World Series Championships. Even if 2023 has been a disaster, the New York Yankees dominate this list, of course. Not a surprise, after all, they have won 27 World Series titles, the most in history.

1. Yogi Berra – 10

The New York Yankees no.8, Yogi Berra was part of the Yankees for 18 seasons. In almost two decades, the legend ended up winning 10 World Series Titles as a player. Though widely known as one of the greatest catchers to have ever played the sport, his popularity also comes from his “Yogi-isms”. Quotes like “It ain’t over til’ it’s over” and “Always go to other people’s funerals; otherwise they won’t go to yours” are forever etched in people’s minds. And as if 10 wasn’t enough, Berra also has 3 more World Series titles as a coach. Twice with the Yankees and once with the New York Mets.

2. Joe DiMaggio – 9

The Yankees Center Fielder played in MLB for 13 seasons and won 9 World Series in them. “The Yankee Clipper” will forever be known for the longest hitting streak in MLB history (56 Games). Apart from this, though, another reason for his popularity was his marriage to the Hollywood Starlet Marilyn Monroe, the woman he loved for the entirety of his life.

3. Bill Dickey – 8

Another Yankees slugger, Bill Dickey was known for his catching abilities. In his 19 seasons in the Bronx, he won 8 World Series titles. Dickey retired in 1946 but returned to the diamond in 1949. It was then that he taught the great Yogi Berra some fine-catching skills. The Yankees’ icon’s impact on the team spanned generations.

4. Phil Rizzuto – 8

The Yankees’ no.10, Phil Rizzuto was a shortstop for 13 seasons. Boasting 8 World Series wins, he also holds numerous Fall Classic records as a position player. “Holy Cow!” as he would say.

5. Frank Crosetti – 8

The top 5 list ends with yet another Pinstriped slugger, Frank Cosetti. “The Crow” has won 8 World Series as a player. However, even that huge number was apparently not enough for him, because he added another 9 championships as a coach for the New York Yankees. In total, his 17 World Series wins as a player and a coach coupled with 23 total participations in World Series are the most by anyone in the history of the sport.

Players That Barely Missed the Cut

Some of the greatest players of all time like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle have won 7 World Series Championships. However, this does not diminish their impact on the sport. Apart from this another player that comes just below them is Derek Jeter and the rest of the core four. Jeter was the one who was a part of the squad that created the Yankees dynasty in the early 90s and 2000s.
