Ben White, his father, is no stranger to the diamond himself. He is a former pitcher for the Arizona Wildcats from 1993 to 1996. Now in his freshman year, Ben posted a 1-1 record with two saves and a 5.28 ERA. Then, by his sophomore year, he became a regular starter. He made 13 starts and finished with a 4-8 record. He had a 7.09 ERA, but he was ranked eighth overall in Six Pax pitching and was recognized as one of the top pitchers in the Pacific 10 Conference Southern Division.

As for Mason’s mother, Brandy White, she has kept his public profile rather private. But her presence in Mason’s journey to MLB has been just as important. Now Ben also has a younger brother named Dane White. And the sports lineage runs deep; Mason’s uncle Darren Dabiel played college football for Arizona. While Ben and Tim had played for Arizona, Mason was actually the first in the family to reach the College World Series. “Mason is by far the best baseball player to come out of our family,” Ben admitted proudly.
