Dekopin Decoy, the pet of Shohei Ohtani, is fast becoming an iconic figure. After going viral during Ohtani’s MVP celebrations, fans have been clamoring for more pictures of this cute little doggo. While those wishes are yet to be granted, Ohtani has done one thing that has again won the hearts of his fans.

When Ohtani visited the US Embassy in Japan, most thought it could be a routine visa-related visit. Fans were halfway right; it was a visa-related visit, but nothing was routine. It turns out Ohtani went there to get a present!

The Embassy visit of Shohei Ohtani wins the internet

Shotime’s Japanese fans got a massive gift during a diplomatic mission in the US Embassy. In a surprising turn of events, the superstar Shohei Ohtani turned up to the event looking as good as ever in an all-black outfit. A video has surfaced of his entry and one can see how the fans erupted at the first sight of their icon. An even bigger surprise came when they realized that Ohtani was there for his pet, Decoy.

While it was known that Shotime was in Japan for a brief visit, his appearance at the Embassy raised a few questions. Was it a routine visit or was he invited to the event? The answer came when US Ambassador Rahm Emanuel posted pictures of himself with Shotime. Therein it became clear that Ohtani was there to get a visa for his pet.

The Two-way Phenom shared that visa on his Instagram story. Seeing Ohtani get a visa for Dekopin “Decoy” sent the internet into a frenzy. With fans calling him “The best daddy in the world,” the superstar’s doggo connection won over baseball fans as well as the US Ambassador. On the same lines, Emanuel gave a nickname to Decoy while hoping to meet him one day.

The US Ambassador Rahm Emanuel sent a message to Ohtani, “Thrilled to meet trailblazing two-time MLB MVP Ohtani-san again,” Emanuel posted on social media site X, formerly Twitter. “Maybe next time I’ll be fortunate enough to meet his MVPup, Decoy.” In the pictures, Ohtani and Emanuel can be seen holding up a giant visa of Decoy and Shotime gifting Emanuel his No. 17 jersey.

The Decoy-Ohtani connection has slowly become a favorite of all baseball fans. While the superstar’s love for dogs is known to all, this is different. Decoy is gradually becoming an inseparable part of the Shohei Ohtani lore. Hopefully, fans will get to see more such stories of Dekopin!
