Matthew Kent Olson, the standout American first baseman, is a Braves phenom who has a .255 career batting average, 1,079 hits, and 276 home runs to his name. Back in 2012, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics during the first round of the MLB draft.

Further, he added, “But to be able to do it in front of that crowd was incredible. I mean, you heard the chop going. Every ball that went out, they were going crazy. It was something I’ll never forget.” After all, this was just his first Home Run Derby participation.

Olson made his first big league appearance in September 2016 and has been one of the best in the league since then. Notably, he signed a massive 8-year, $168 million contract with the Braves before the beginning of the 2022 season.

Who is his wife? All you need to know about Nicole Olson

Back in November 2021, Olson tied the knot with his longtime partner, Nicole Olson. She works in real estate as a retail tenant associate. Olson first met Nicole back in his college era, and they reportedly dated for 7 years.

When Matt Olson was finding his footing in the baseball world, Nicole was pursuing her academic goals. She was studying for a bachelor’s in business administration in 2017, when Olson achieved a rookie breakout season.

Nicole was born and brought up in Johns Creek, Georgia. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, back in December 2024.

Who are his parents? Meet Scott and Leen Olson

Matt Olson is the second son of Scott and Lee Olson. Back in the day, Scott was a baseball fan himself. He coached both his sons when they were young. All four of them used to live in a cozy two-story home in Lilburn. In fact, during early years, Scott, Matt and Zack had a ritual to drive to local parks in Lilburn to enjoy the games.

Scott beams with pride whenever he recalls his sons’ early years. The boys have a three-year age gap, but they have shared a beautiful bond throughout their journey. It was a sense of relief for Scott that Matt got along well with Zack and his friends. “Those guys have done nothing but support Matt. And that’s sort of hard when you’ve got a three-year age difference,” he said. Matt has often credited his dad for all his creative teaching methods.

Matt’s mom Lee, on the other hand, has mostly stayed out of the spotlight. Back in June 2018, however, Matt arranged for a digital message to be shared on Lee’s birthday at the stadium. It was indeed a lucky day for him, as the Athletics dominated the Royals that day by 3-2.

Is Zack Olson related to Matt Olson? All to know

Zack Olson is the first son of Lee and Scott and the elder brother of Matt Olson. He was a right-handed relief pitcher for the Harvard Crimson baseball team. Yes, baseball runs deep in the Olson family.

Back in the days when Matt was just 3 or 4, he would hit the ball over his big two-story house, stunning Zack and his friends. They would run to tell Scott. “I’m in the kitchen, and all of a sudden the door flies open and I’ve got three or four 7-year-olds in my face going, ‘Mr. Olson! Mr. Olson! Matt just hit it over the house!’” Scott revealed as he recalled the instance.

Well, Matt himself doesn’t vividly remember the details of that day, but he has heard the story from everyone around. Meanwhile, Scott remembers every bit of it.
