The Philadelphia Phillies’ matchup against the Miami Marlins turned out to be more about the drama among fans in the stands than the diamond, honestly. Well, the Phillies had already taken a lead when Harrison Bader crushed a 410-foot home run just after Brandon Marsh’s 420-foot blast.

Now, as the ball started descending towards where he stood, a woman in a white Phillies jersey reached out for it. But she fumbled and dropped it. But if you think her story ends here, well, you’d be so wrong because the Karen here—spoiler alert—is her! So after she fumbled, a man in a red t-shirt picked it up and handed it to his young son.
His son was celebrating his birthday, and for once, it was the perfect father-son moment. But alas, the Karen from above marched over and yelled for the ball. The father, then trying to avoid any confrontation, gave the ball over, simply with a get-out-of-here look. But then the internet has gone wild with it. Who is this? Well, it turns out that the internet has found a scapegoat without any confirmation, and according to them, it’s Cheryl Richardson Wagner.

Now, no official sources like the Phillies or NBC reports have confirmed this, but unverified claims have been made online. According to this fan account, Cheryl works at social services at The Evergreens. She is a 67-year-old resident of Moorestown, New Jersey, and is also affiliated with the Democratic Party. And fans have scoured through social media, even her LinkedIn profile, and have started spreading the news that this is indeed the Karen who bullied the father and son duo.

Fans are flooding social media with snapshots of her professional profile, her making derogatory signs at the fans for gawking at her, and some accounts have even leaked out her address on X! Fans all over social media are asking for her to be arrested, too. Sean Barnard of Crossing Broad, in fact, dragged her, saying, “It is not this man’s fault that she has the hands of Nelson Agholor.” And while this woman goes viral for all the wrong reasons, that kid she snatched the ball from walked away with a load of goodie bags and a signed bat, and the family apparently is now even getting offers to go see the World Series and more.

Caught in the Crossfire? Phillies ‘Karen’ sparks confusion!
A Facebook page with the same name, Cheryl Richardson Wagner, has denied the accusations of being the woman in the video. It is mentioned that she is not the crazy Philly mom. She even joked about how she would love to be the woman that fans clicked, as the woman in the picture is thin and can move fast. Also, she said she is not a Phillies fan but a Boston Red Sox fan!
