Last year’s MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game in Arlington had a memorable moment. Remember when comic Kid Mero got hit by a pitch from Pedro Martinez and ran to the mound? Instead of causing pandemonium, Pedro gently dragged him to the ground and tapped his glove, which made everyone clap and giggle. It was the right mix of fun and friendly competition. Let’s get ready for all the fun this year!

Game format & rules that keep it fun

Are you someone who is watching it for the first time? Well, don’t worry, we have got you covered. Here are the rules and format of this game:

  • There will be two teams, AL & NL, consisting of 12 celebs each.
  • It will be played in a 250-foot outfield wall as per the softball dimensions.
  • Five-inning exhibition—everyone gets turn to bat, even if they aren’t fielding.
  • There are three outs in each inning, or ten hitters have hit (mercy rule).
  • If the game is still tied after five innings. Then “swing-off” decides the winner. Each team gets three swings. (Funnily enough, this “swing-off” business has become a fan favourite over the years!)
  • If the score is still tied, sudden-death swing-offs will continue until one player hits a home run.

If you’re in Atlanta, be sure to visit Truist Park. If you’re watching from afar, MLB Network and streaming services have you covered. Prepare for celebrity gossip, unexpected athleticism, and a night full of fun!
