New York Yankees have hit the rock bottom after starting their regular season with a bang. The Yankees were ruthless against any opposition in the first half of the 2022 regular season, and now, the same Yankees are struggling to win games in the postseason.

Currently, the Yankees are 3-0 down to Houston Astros in the ongoing ALCS. And now, with their season on the line, the Yankees are in a do-or-die situation. They are just a defeat away from getting knocked out of the postseason.

However, the Pinstripes still have a chance to revive themselves and prove why they are the most successful MLB franchise. Although it is a near impossible job, if they intend to do so, they have a fine chance of redemption for their historic ALCS loss against the Boston Red Sox in 2004.

Will the New York Yankees be able to pull off a Boston Red Sox against the Houston Astros?

If one can remember, the Boston Red Sox pulled off the biggest postseason heist against the New York Yankees in the 2004 ALCS. Just like the Astros of this season, the Yankees were also 3-0 up in the ALCS against the Red Sox.

The Yankees were also just a win away from clinching the 2004 ALCS, but the Red Sox came all guns blazing in the next four games, and they rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win the ALCS.

Given the situation is not in the favor of the Yanks, they have a fine opportunity to do the same to the Astros as the Red Sox once did to them. Even to date, the Red Sox remain the only MLB team to win a best-of-7 postseason series by trailing 3-0 in the first three games.

However, even if the Yankees intend to do the same, they might have their squad as strong as the Houston Astros. Whether from the mound or the plate, the Astros have relatively a much better squad than the Pinstripes.

Why the Yankees are struggling in the postseason?

The main reason the New York Yankees are struggling for a win is because of their offense. With the likes of Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Anthony Rizzo, the Yankees’ offense has failed to perform in the postseason, especially in the ALCS.

On the other hand, the Dusty Baker-led Houston Astros have been spot-on with their pitching and hitting strategy; something the Yankees are lacking in the postseason.

Do you expect the Yankees to become only the second team in MLB history to win a best-of-7 series after being 3-0 down?
