Records are made to be broken. If not so, at least they can be matched. Aaron Judge proved this again when he placed himself with a former Yankees captain with his Home Run. The Fenway Park audience witnessed that iconic moment on Thursday.

The New York Yankees had multiple baseball legends, and many of them used to be the captains of the team. Of course, hearing the former Yankees Captain bring up the name of Derek Jeter, as he was the most successful captain of the team. Surprisingly, this former captain whom he has matched is much more senior than Jeter.

The two fierce rivals were in an aggressive mood on Thursday. During the Second inning, the Yankees captain hit a Home Run that became his 6th Grand Slam. He hit the ball in center field over the wall with the bases loaded. It was the 32nd Home Run of this Season and a record Grand Slam to touch another legend- Don Mattingly. Though Mattingly had this number of Grand Slams in his entire career, Judge reached the number within 7 years of his debut. Even fans acknowledged this on social media by showering praise for the Yankees captain.

The game was a doubleheader and challenging for both teams, but the Bronx Bombers did it and achieved an 8-5 victory. Tanner Houck and Rafael Devers have tried their best to fight by pitching six well-pitched innings and a Home Run. Finally, Aaron Judge and Oswald Peraza’s outstanding performance destroyed everything.

Don Mattingly- A Successful Yankees Captain and Coach

The New York Yankees is a big franchise with numerous players joining and playing for them. Very few left their marks on the history of the team or league. But Don Mattingly did it. Maybe not as much as Captain Clutch, but he still had multiple records and achievements.

During his 1987 season, Mattingly hit six Grand Slams in a single season, and these were the only Grand Slams he had in his career. He never hit any before or after. It was indeed a crazy record for a player who had a record of hitting Extra-bases in 10 back-to-back games. Later after his retirement in 1995, he was the coach of the Yankees for 3 years (2004-2007).
