As expected, the much-awaited New York Yankees and New York Mets clash is the talk of the town. Be it the approximately 46,000 fans filling Yankee Stadium or their cheers and boos, everything made the game even more special. However, Juan Soto of the Mets did not receive the warm reception he had anticipated upon his return to the Bronx. As if they were trying to prove that there’s bad blood with Soto in the Bronx. Now, amid this, something happened that quickly grabbed the attention of everyone and it’s about a fan from the stands. What’s the incident that unfolded during the game?
Friday night was one of the toughest not only for the New York Mets but for the entire fan base. Their superstar, Juan Soto, who played at the stadium for the first time since joining the Mets, faced an even tougher challenge than the game itself. A chorus of jeers reverberated throughout the stadium as Soto took the field for the first time. It could have been taken lightly until Soto took off his helmet and tipped his cap towards the fans before stealing a second in the inning-end. Echoing a similar stance, a female Yankees fan in the stands was caught on camera doing a similar stance like Soto to a Mets fan, who was sitting right beside her.
And that’s what angered the fans as they came up with their different reactions, leaving the entire MLB world in splits. The Yankees-Mets rivalry was in full swing and Soto’s reaction towards the Yankees’ fans added fuel to it. And it was all because of the 26-year-old Dominican outfielder’s decision to leave the Yankees for the Mets. Soto signed a massive fifteen-year, $765 million contract, which was more than the Yankees’ $760 million deal.

Now that he’s back at the stadium, Juan Soto handled the situation calmly by tipping his hat in spite of the harsh criticism. However, it led to a Yankee fan making fun of another Mets fan who was clearly upset after seeing his team lose to the Yankees 2–6. Fans remained divided and blamed one another for opposing Soto and supporting him, which infuriated them. Yankees supporters were quick to respond with terms like “traitor,” while Mets supporters came up with phrases like “salty.”
This event, which was captured on camera, is unmistakable evidence of how a single spark can start a wildfire. Similar to the fans, who are fighting one another and it doesn’t seem like it will end anytime soon.
Yankees Fan mocking Mets fan sparks outrage among the fans
It was another day and another dominant start by the New York Yankees this season. While it might have been something to rejoice for the fans, instead they are up against the Mets fans after the post by Jomboy Media ricocheted across social media. One of the fans commented, “This is unnecessary. No World Series title coming for either team.” The fan feels like neither of the teams are going to win the World Series title. Wondering when they won the World Series title? It was in 2009 when the Yankees won their last World Series title after beating the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets won the title in 1986 against the Boston Red Sox.

Did Juan Soto's move to the Mets ignite the fiercest Yankees-Mets rivalry we've seen in years?
Have an interesting take?
This is unnecessary.

“#NewYork Dominicana lady very probable after the game, no nothing tonight … she is not cooking all this weekend and will make him dress as a Yankees fan … Latina power!” That’s a funny dig at the Mets fan who was punked by the Yankees fan. However, they looked like a couple and that’s why with the Yankees winning the game, there’s every bit of a chance that the female fan has everything in her control now. Injecting a bit of humor, the fan believes that the fan, who looked like a Latina, may even stop cooking and get his boyfriend dressed as a Yankees fan.

Then came a little bit of criticism from a Yankees fan: “Imagine being out with a good-looking woman and being an absolute dud to her because your team isn’t winning, lol. So lame.” And it’s true – although the Mets are atop the NL East with 28-17, the New York Yankees have a much better record against them with 80-66. While the game between the two teams was quite intense on Friday night, luck didn’t favor the Mets as they went on to lose another against their rival.
However, an X user came in support of the Mets’ fan and he wrote, “He’d be 1000x better without that around. Walk away, friend.” Despite being close friends or maybe a couple, the Yankees fan kept trolling the Mets fan as he seemed quite sad and frustrated with the outcome of the game. That’s perhaps the reason why the fan wants him to be without her, considering that as a fan we need to respect each and every team, not bully or criticize others, right?
A final comment read: “Don’t know what the girl said but dude said, ‘We literally have a better record than you guys.” 😭😭😭” Well, currently, the Mets are standing at a 28-17 record with two games ahead of the Phillies, while the Yankees are now standing at 28-16, the highest lead in any discussions.
