Unexpected events and moves often mark games. These incidents can sometimes be harmful if not prevented in time. A similar thing happened during the game between The New York Yankees and The Kansas City Royals. The game had a sudden incident that could have hurt any of the Yankees players in the dugout if their DH hadn’t prevented it. However, despite all these, the fans still mock the move as a “Gold Glove” move.

The anti-climactic ending The Yankees got was probably the most unexpected event for the fans. So, nothing seems shocking to them anymore. Giancarlo Stanton‘s quick reflexes made a difference in the last game between Kansas City and New York; otherwise, the outcome might have been different. This, anyway, couldn’t move the fans, as they are still stuck to his season-long below-average performance.

Giancarlo Stanton Became the Hero of the Game

The Yankees are standing only two-game distance from their season-ending. The ongoing three-game series with the Royals is the last series of their season, and at this point, the team met with a mishap. During the last game, in the seventh inning, the bat slipped out of Matt Duffy’s hand while hitting the ball. Unfortunately, it was approaching the Yankees Dugout. It was a fearful incident that could have hurt any player in the dugout, but Stanton saved everyone. He caught the flying bat with one hand, showing his ultimate reflex.

The star outfielder of the team was again out of the lineup on Friday. Aaron Judge took his place as the DH while Oswaldo Cabrera, Everton Pereira, and Estevan Florial handled the outfield. Stanton’s performance during the season was consistently below expectations, which disappointed the fans. Surprisingly, in the last game, the team’s performance wasn’t significantly better even without him, resulting in a disappointing 12-5 loss.

Though Austin Wells hit a three-run homer, it couldn’t save the game. Every Royals hitter stood against Carlos Rodon scored, making the game out of control from the first inning. It only heightened until the pitcher was pulled out of the game by Aaron Boone.

However, Stanton didn’t have any fault for the defeat, but he actually saved others. But fans expressed all their frustration through mockery. While his heroic act should be praised, it backfired.

Growing up in a family where sports was a topic of daily discussion, baseball drew my interest the most. I admired the post-retirement journey of Alex Rodriguez and the rise of Shohei Ohtani and Elly De La Cruz to stardom in the current baseball generation. Forever enamored by Bryce Harper and the way his career is progressing, I love covering most East Coast teams. When not writing, you can always find me at the library, buried between the pages of a book. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a favorite for me. When not surrounded by words, I’m usually in the battlefields of COD and Fortnite!
