It has been almost a week (June 15) since Rafael Devers and the Boston Red Sox parted ways. But the talks around him haven’t faded yet. Not only because the Red Sox are dominating the Yankees and Mariners without Devers, but also because they are in excellent form. For many, it may come as a surprise. Devers did, however, clarify his desire to start at first base for the Giants, something he had previously denied with the Red Sox.
“What happened with the Red Sox is in the past. I’m someone who takes it day by day and will give it my best now that I’m here,” Devers said on Tuesday, while debuting for the San Francisco Giants. While he seemed to be happy with changing the team as well as his position, the Red Sox fans were not. They are clearly disappointed, but the Yankees supporters are pleased that Devers left.
The whole drama around this caught the attention of many right after MLB made a post on Instagram. The post read, “Yankees fans say goodbye to Rafael Devers,” captioning that Rafael Devers will be missed in the Bronx. Well, that might be true for some, but not for the Yankees fans, who believe that it’s a good riddance.

Accompanied by the post is a small clip that took us through some of the hilarious reactions from the Yankees fans. And guess what, their hilarious takes on Rafael Devers’ exit are having their fair share of rounds at the moment.
Of course, they didn’t hold back from talking about it. When asked about whether they feel sad with Devers getting out of the AL East, none of them—yes, literally no one—seemed sad. “Why would I be sad?” one of the fans questioned. Clearly, it seemed like they had nothing to do with it.
However, not to forget that the Red Sox have shown the Yankees what they are capable of. They remained unbeaten against the Bronx Bombers two times this season. And it’s quite obvious that the fans of the Yankees aren’t happy with their so-called arch-nemesis.
Now that something new is coming up every day, let’s hear what the fans said in the viral post shared by MLB.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Rafael Devers' exit actually strengthen the Red Sox, or is it just a lucky streak?
Have an interesting take?
Rafael Devers’ exit has had Yankees fans laughing?
Ever since Rafael Devers bid goodbye to the Red Sox, it’s been all over the news. However, now that he is no longer with the Red Sox, the Yankees are quite happy. When asked about whether they feel sad about it or not, one of the fans exclaimed, “Sad? I am glad.” There’s absolutely no question of being sad for the fan; rather, he felt happy. The Red Sox and Yankees have been archrivals for a long time. And who doesn’t want their opponent’s best player no longer there, right?

Echoing a similar statement, another fan delivered a hilarious reaction, saying, “Get him out of here. I don’t want to see him anymore.” The frustration was evident, though. And why not? Rafael Devers had come up strong every time while facing the Yankees. In just 119 games, he hit 31 home runs, averaged .270, and dished out 78 RBIs. Fair enough to say that with Devers’ exit, the fan has definitely found something to rejoice about.

Another fan answered whether there were any conversations with their friends, who are fans of the Red Sox. It was rather a scathing response from his end. “No, console them? I don’t have Red Sox fan friends.” That says it all! Like their supporters, who take solace in seeing their rival team struggle, the Red Sox and Yankees are frequently referred to as rivals. The Yankees have a 1246-1033 record against the Red Sox, with a .547 winning percentage, averaging .264 and .739 OPS. Although the Yankees always had an edge over the Red Sox, this season, things are turning opposite. The Red Sox have won the two series played against the Bronx Bombers this season.
A young Yankee fan apparently couldn’t help but boast about their previous victories because of this. “They can kiss our 27 World Series rings. Like no one cares.” Not once, twice, or ten times—27 times—the New York Yankees are the only team to have won the World Series. Imagine the aura they have in Major League Baseball! The Pinstripers are way ahead of the Cardinals, who are in the second spot with 11 titles.
“It’s a good riddance for me.” Somewhere, this line seems to fit the Red Sox management’s possible thinking, doesn’t it? Devers was uninterested in changing his position for the team that needed him at first base. Since Devers is no longer with the Boston, they would ultimately avoid facing one of the Yankees’ best players. It’s like a breather for every Yankee fan right now. Do you also feel that Devers made the right decision to go for the Giants and perform in the same position that he was unwilling to play earlier?
