The New York Yankees rolled past the Baltimore Orioles 6-1 on Saturday. That win pushed their record to 93-68. But let’s be honest, it was not just the scoreboard that got fans all fired up. The real headline came about what happened between the Yankee skipper and the umpire! The drama came in the fifth inning, when Boone lost it after home plate ump Ramon De Jesus blew a couple of calls on Aaron Judge.

Boone had seen enough, and he barked from the dugout. Then he stormed out to let De Jesus know he flat-out missed two pitches. Then a little yelling, and boom—Boone was tossed. And Bryan Hoch of MLB.com summed it up perfectly. “With Aaron Judge batting, Aaron Boone has been ejected by home plate umpire Ramon DeJesus over balls and strikes. Boone told DeJesus he missed two pitches to Judge. Then a gum toss.” Fans were already fuming with the decision, and then even Yankees royalty chimed in.
Gary Sheffield Jr., son of legend Gary Sheffield, jumped onto social media and said three words: “Eject this BUM.” It just sums up what the Bronx really feels.

The funny thing is, Aaron Boone’s ejection did not rattle the New York Yankees even one bit. They were up 3-0 when Boone got tossed. And then the Yankees only added more runs from there. And as far as Boone goes, this was not his first or second ejection of the season. This was his seventh ejection this season, and it is classic Boone, right? He is going to war for his captain, which is what he has done before. He protected Anthony Volpe wholeheartedly, even though he got trolled for it, left, right, and center.

Meanwhile, Aaron Judge had a monstrous day himself. He finished with two hits, a home run, three RBIs, and a run scored. He totally made a statement in his AL MVP case. And honestly, the race is tight, with Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh surging late. However, Boone believes that there is no real debate for his captain. And well, Judge did match the Yankees legend Mickey Mantle by blasting his 50 home runs!
In the end, both make a compelling case, but Judge’s power, consistency, and on-clutch production can give him the edge. If he wins, then he will be etching his name into history as a back-to-back MVP!
Aaron Boone is staying put in the Bronx
Now, there have been a lot of rumors about how Aaron Boone will be done being the skipper after this season. But much to the New York Yankee fans’ frustration, Boone is not going anywhere. Despite the calls for his firing, The Athletics‘ Ken Rosenthal explained why exactly the Yankees are most likely not going to take that call. He said, “Much as some Yankees fans wanted Boone fired 627 times already, here are the facts. Since Boone took over in 2018, the Yankees’ regular-season winning percentage is third, only to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros.” Plus, they have also missed the postseason games just once under his watch. And they also reached the World Series in 2024, the first time since 2009.

Plus, the Yanks had a rocky stretch this time around, but at the right time, they are catching on fire. They are on a 21-8 run since August 23. But all that doesn’t mean that the frustrations surrounding Boone have been nullified. From his questionable bullpen decisions to the lack of accountability for the Yankees’ struggles all season long. Even the WS appearance for their first in 15 years ended with a five-game loss to the Dodgers. Hence, it is easy to see why the fans are ready to move on.
Still, the late-season surge has tied the Yankees with the Toronto Blue Jays for the AL East lead and best record in the league at 91-68. Aaron Boone’s extension runs through 2027, and that means for now he has a place in the Bronx. Unless New York collapses big time, most probably, then you will see him back in the dugout.
