New York is in a celebratory mood. The Yankees just swept the Cincinnati Reds at an away game and fans are thrilled. After a disappointing start to the season, the Bronx Bombers seem to be bringing back their 2022 form. At the last game, as fans celebrated in the stands, two players had a fun conversation of their own. Anthony Rizzo, who has been a centerpiece in the Yankees lineup this season, and Gleyber Torres shared a hilarious moment on the field.
The first quarter of the season has given some trouble to the team as one player after another had an injured list stint. When even captain Aaron Judge missed a few games, Rizzo stood tall and helped his team win. Torres has been no less impressive and clearly shares a camaraderie with the first baseman.

Gleyber Torres calls Anthony Rizzo an ‘old man’ on national television
For disclaimer purposes, Anthony Rizzo is 33 years old and Gleyber Torres is 26 years old. Now, most people believe age is just a number but things usually work differently in sports. And at a recent Yankees game, Torres was clearly feeling it as he talked to Rizzo on the field while he had a mic on.

Telling the first baseman to say hello to him, Torres related what Rizzo told him, “‘It’s too early for that.'” To be clear, the game was scheduled at 1.30 pm in the afternoon, which the second baseman clearly felt like pointing out. “Old man on the game, 1.30 game, it’s hard,” Torres laughed.

Baseball fans side with Rizzo’s dislike of talking
When a player is on the field, one would assume they just want to focus on the game. While it was Torres’ turn to have a microphone on him, fans understood why Rizzo didn’t want to talk. One even stood by his talent.
