With the season entering its pace in make-or-break stretch, MLB decided to drop a glory post for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sounds like nothing’s wrong with that? You’ll see. What followed the glory post was a sharp sting. The thing is, timing is where everything went downhill. The all-glory post was dropped just hours before the Dodgers suffered a painful defeat. Coincidence, you think? Maybe, maybe not. Let’s just say the timing was ironic.

MLB’s glory post was a tribute to the Dodgers’ iconic trio: Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. The post attempts to rank this iconic trio among baseball’s greatest trios. The league emphasized the concept of a “1-2-3 punch,” highlighting this trio’s positioning in the batting sequence. Three phenomenal hitters who are undeniably great individually. But together? If they lined up back-to-back, they could dominate the game before the opposing team even realized it.

You know, the post would’ve been perfect if the Dodgers came right off a walk-off win or a dominant conquest. However, that wasn’t the case here. In fact, just hours before, the Chicago Cubs snatched away a clear win from the Dodgers. Not to mention, a brutal 16-0 shutout at Dodger Stadium, backed by 21 hits. Just like that, the Dodgers suffered three consecutive losses to the Cubs.

A remarkable 4-2 score marks it as one of the historic wins of the Cubs. Meanwhile, for the Dodgers, it marked their second painful defeat. In the postgame press conference, manager Dave Roberts reflected on the Dodgers’ offense situation: “I think we just haven’t gotten synced up offensively. It’s going to happen. It’s just in this last nine- or 10-game stretch, it just hasn’t.” Roberts acknowledged the struggles, but with an optimistic mindset. He believes it’s just a matter of time till they find their rhythm again.

On top of the Dodgers’ situation, Ohtani had a bit of a rough outing against the Cubs. His batting average dropped to .273 with 4 home runs across 17 games. Despite the Dodgers’ current struggles, it now seems like MLB’s fascination with them might never fade. Ohtani is known to be a singular force who has the magical two-way skills. If anybody can compete with him in that area, it is Ohtani himself. After he underwent elbow surgery, things haven’t been quite the same for him, and his performance seems to be affected.

In the midst of it all, isn’t it strange for MLB to post a glorious tribute to the Dodgers? Did they even read the room a bit? As soon as MLB dropped the post, fans started drawing their contrasts around it. To say the least, they simply didn’t buy it. Let’s hear it from them.

Fans Call Out MLB’s Timing: Could it be any worse?

Right after the Dodgers’ painful 16-0 shutout defeat to the Cubs, fans didn’t see it coming. They couldn’t wrap their heads around the fact that MLB could drop a post glorifying the Dodgers trio after their humiliating loss to the Cubs. As a result, the fans just couldn’t hold back.

The loudest and most brutal one, which reflected pure disappointment with MLB:

“You guys truly have no shame.”

Collectively, most of the fans felt the same level of disappointment. More than that, it was pure disbelief at MLB’s obvious negligence. Meanwhile, the Cubs nation was just surprised to see that there was no such praising post for the Cubs:

“Lost 16-0 but not a single Cubs post.”

At this point, it all came down to fairness. After such a historic victory, they should be the ones on everybody’s screens. Then, some believed, post or no post, they would anyway not let go of how poorly the Dodgers lost to the Cubs.

“This tweet isn’t going to make me forget that they got smoked 16-0 yesterday.”

As long as the fans had already witnessed the Dodgers’ painful defeat, it didn’t really matter to them if MLB was nicely framing the Dodgers instead of the Cubs. Another fan got a real kick out of it:

“16-0 shutout at home, and this is what yall post the next day? It’s comical at this point.”

MLB’s priorities came in a bit handy to fans this time. Others let their emotions speak for themselves:

“OMG, I think I’m going to be sick. 🤢🤮”

Apparently, fans witnessed the Cubs achieving their historic win, only to end up seeing the opposing team glamorized the next morning. At the end of the day, MLB’s act serves as a perfect example of what happens when the hype has no relation to the real moment. The Dodgers might be topping off the headline today, but the Cubs have topped off history this time.
