On some rare occasions, one finds an unexpected connection with someone. Imagine if one found a centuries-old relationship with someone one doesn’t even know. This happened with famous musical artist Ciara, who also happens to be Denver Broncos’s QB Russel Wilson’s wife. She recently discovered that she has a deep relationship with the New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

To find friends in strangers is one thing but to find out that a generational talent in your relative? That could send butterflies flying in anyone’s stomach. Ciara was no different when she found this out.

Derek Jeter – the distant cousin of Ciara 

DNA testing and finding one’s genetic history has become a massive topic of discussion. Everyone wants to know their roots, and Grammy-winning artist Ciara has similar interests. Appearing on Henry Louis Gates Jr’s Finding Your Roots show, her DNA test revealed a huge surprise. Ciara shared a long identical stretch of DNA with the former New York Yankees captain, of all people!

Upon finding this out, Ciara was overwhelmed. “What in the world? You are kidding me!” she said. Surprised and amazed at the same time, she visibly had questions on her mind. Gates Jr. answered them by saying that she and Derek Jeter shared the same DNA in the 14th chromosome—something Jeter inherited from his mother.

As a result, Ciara and Jeter are long-lost cousins. What are the odds? A baseball talent is a cousin of another popular artist – this feels like a movie. At the same time, when fans saw Ciara’s X post the comment section echoed with only four words, “This is so cool!” It most certainly is.
