In January this year, Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin shocked the world! Soon after, the Bills confirmed that he underwent a cardiac arrest. The technique used to restore Hamlin’s heartbeat has inspired the New York Yankees, leading them to launch a campaign based on this life-saving method.

New York Yankees unite to honor Damar Hamlin through HOPE Week!

After Damar collapsed while in cardiac arrest during a game, medical personnel treated him for 20 minutes with CPR and other methods to restore his heartbeat; after his heart started catching some breath, they transported him to a hospital for further treatment. Considering CPR a beacon of hope for other games, the Yankees announced Bills star Damar Hamlin as the honoree for their annual HOPE Week celebration. Most recently, the team shared the date of the event and the motive behind conducting it this year.

On July 3rd, the Bronx Bombers’ players and coaches will take part in CPR training to recognize the on-field treatment that Hamlin received. This will occur at Yankee Stadium, in the outfield, with former softball player Sarah Taffet, the American Heart Association, and NYC Public School Athletic Leagues (PSAL) personnel.

This is the Bombers’ way of drawing attention to a life-threatening medical condition. Furthermore, it allows their players and coaching staff to remain always ready in an emergency. In April, the sources revealed Hamlin’s comeback in the game.

When the incident occurred, there were serious doubts over whether Damar Hamlin would play football again. There were doubts about his chances of survival due to his critical condition. But the Bills star fully recovered and was cleared to play football in April. Furthermore, he clarified his thoughts, stating his intention to continue his NFL career. Given the traumatic nature of his incident, it would not have been a shock if he had quit. But Hamlin has chosen to persevere and continue his career.
