Being an elite athlete, he also mingled with the greatest icons from other sports. His charity golf events invite legendary players from all backgrounds. So, an NFL star once admittedly felt out-of-place boarding Jeter’s golf tour bus among legendary iconic athletes.

Though baseball was his primary love for Jeter, it wasn’t the only sport he followed. He always remained an avid sports lover, with an equally keen interest in other sports. Among all those sports, he was ever so fond of golf and thus began participating in the sport post-retirement. Hosting celebrity golf tournaments, Jeter once invited NFL star, Eli Manning.

And after boarding the bus, Eli, for some reason, felt like he was on the wrong bus.

When Eli Manning boarded the “wrong bus” for Derek Jeter’s celebrity golf tour! 

Derek Jeter was recently a guest on Eli Manning’s talk show. Both Jeter and Manning have remained acquaintances for a long time. While Manning struggled as a rookie, Jeter encouraged him. The duo accomplished honorable feats in their respective sports.

Therefore, Jeter invited Manning as a friendly gesture to participate in his celebrity golf tournament in Florida. Out of respect, Manning accepted Jeter’s invitation and went along. But it was when he got on the golf bus that Manning felt like he possibly took the wrong bus. Since some of the greatest athletes, such as the likes of NBA legend Michael Jordan and NHL legend Wayne Gretzky were on board.

Speaking to Jeter, Manning said, “Later that year, you called. I got invited to your charity golf event down in Florida. I said, well, I gotta go. You called, my season got better, I started playing better. I gotta go and going down there, I mean, I was like on a bus going to a golf tournament. I’m on there with Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Reggie Jackson. I think I’m in the wrong bus. I should be driving this thing. I should not be allowed.”

Jeter hosts an annual celebrity golf meet each year, that involves celebrities from sports and other professions. The tournaments get sponsored by his media house, Players’ Tribune and charity organization Turn 2 Foundation. This year, the tournament hosted in the Bahamas raised and donated $1 million to the Turn 2 Foundation.
