Coach Prime Deion Sanders is known as the two-sport Legend for a reason. The Prime Time’s football and baseball careers are almost equally glorifying. Surprisingly, the Legend once revealed his opinion on the two sports while picking MLB over the NFL.

Baseball and football are two different genres of sports with nothing in common. However, Prime Time had tackled both with his exceptional skills. The ex-baseballer gave 9-years to baseball and even played in the World Series. Whereas he also had a 14-season long Hall of Famer NFL career. But, when he got to compare the two sports, his answer shocked his fans. Additionally, Sanders’ creative response to his opposing coach stole the spotlight.

Deion Sanders’ Revealed His Surprising Opinion on Baseball

Coach Prime’s baseball connection is less prominent than football. But when he got the chance to choose between them, he picked baseball. A Twitter video recorded his responses in an interview with Shannon Sharpe. When the host brought up the topic of selecting the hardest sport he played, the NFL legend picked baseball over football. He replied without any hesitation, “Hitting that baseball… hitting that baseball…That’s what I felt 7 out of 10 times when I still making it 400M a year.”

Besides that, the legend did another unique thing moments before this answer. He handed over sunglasses to his players. It was a response to Colorado State coach Jay Norvell who mocked him for wearing sunglasses during interviews.

Without reacting harshly, he picked out two of his Prime 21 sunglasses and passed them to his players. The legendary coach commented, “I just want to see how y’all look in ‘em. You look good!” Again he passed a couple of sunglasses to the ESPN hosts during the interview. This was an epic reply to a mockery.

After this incident, he picked up baseball over football, though he is an NFL Hall of Fame member. The legend played for only a few years, but his contribution to baseball is marked in golden letters. Also, this is not the first time he prioritized baseball.

The MLB star went on to explain that the difficulties he encountered in baseball served as his motivation for pursuing the sport. While he despises losing, he acknowledges that becoming a master of baseball is a formidable challenge.

Growing up in a family where sports was a topic of daily discussion, baseball drew my interest the most. I admired the post-retirement journey of Alex Rodriguez and the rise of Shohei Ohtani and Elly De La Cruz to stardom in the current baseball generation. Forever enamored by Bryce Harper and the way his career is progressing, I love covering most East Coast teams. When not writing, you can always find me at the library, buried between the pages of a book. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so,” from Shakespeare’s Hamlet is a favorite for me. When not surrounded by words, I’m usually in the battlefields of COD and Fortnite!
