Few rivalries are as old as legendary as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ with the San Francisco Giants. Both of them have been going at it since the late 1800s. Their mutual disdain for each other has always been consistent, first on the East Coast and then on the West. The rivalry goes so deep that even when their league campaign fails, the fans consider it a winning season if their team has a series win over the rival. Now, one can add another name to this legendary rivalry – Brock Purdy.

The San Francisco 49ers’ Quarterback was seen in Oracle Park watching the game between the Giants and the Dodgers. Though the fans were already happy with just a glimpse of Purdy, the NFL star ended up doing something that won the hearts of nearly every Bay Bombers faithful.

In a video going viral on X, Purdy was seen interacting with fans in the stadium. However, as he was climbing the stairs, some Giants fans asked him for a photo. The Quarterback stopped to take some pictures. However, right at the same time, another fan – wearing a Dodgers jersey – asked for a photo. In a true rivalry emotion, Purdy ignored him.

That gesture seems to have won over the entire San Francisco Giants fanbase. With their team losing the series against the Dodgers again (though they did win the last game) the fans had already been pretty upset. Seeing their favorite quarterback shun rival fans did give the Bay Bombers lovers a little respite.

Their reaction to the video proves it. The video immediately went viral with the Giant fans completely enamoured with Brock Purdy’s conduct.

Brock Purdy adds another story to the Dodgers-Giants rivalry

“That’s my QB,” said the Giants’ fans in unison after witnessing this incident. Though their team is currently floundering, trolling their rivals still evokes positive reactions in the Bay Area. “That’s how you know he is a franchise quarterback,” said a fan. Certainly, acts like this could make Brock Purdy an even more lovable part of San Francisco.

“Nothing worse than 49ers/Dodger fans. No one wants you,” said another Giants fan. It seems the Bay Bombers dislike Dodgers fans liking their city’s NFL team. However, the Blue Crew faithful weren’t silent either. They too had some tough words for the Giants and Purdy. “This is the only thing SF fans can celebrate. Pretty sad,” a Dodgers fan said. The Men in Blue’s recent domination of NL West gives them easy ammunition against the Giants.

“2nd place. Hahaha,” said a fan, referring to the 49ers’ loss in the Superbowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. So it looks like Purdy’s shunning of the Dodgers fan has reignited their rivalry flames. That’s certainly fun. Now one wonders if the Giants can provide its fans with an on-field product worth cheering for.
